Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviews planned construction and public transport projects in Tashkent

On June 16, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed presentations of construction and public transport projects planned in Tashkent.
In recent years, the capital has seen a rapid pace of development, driven by steadily growing investment appeal. High-rise residential buildings, hotels, business centers, and cultural and sports complexes are expanding the cityʼs potential. Construction of New Tashkent has also begun, and together, these areas are evolving into a modern metropolis.
In projects designed to serve for decades, quality is of critical importance. A meeting addressing this issue was held on May 13. The Head of State emphasized that safety and quality must be the top priorities in construction and instructed the sector to adopt modern approaches and develop scientifically grounded practices.
At todayʼs presentation, updates were provided on the work completed in this regard. Following the directives, newly designed high-rise buildings have been re-evaluated for compliance with safety standards. Scientific and technical assessments were obtained from nearly ten institutions, including UzGASHKLIITI, the Seismology Institute of the Academy of Sciences, the Emergency Management Department, and the Sanitary-Epidemiological Service. Under the new standards, earthquake resistance for high-rise buildings must be no less than 9 on the Richter scale. A consolidated report will be prepared for each project.
As the number of skyscrapers and large complexes increases, a stable supply of electricity becomes equally essential. A new 160-megawatt substation is planned for construction in the Chilanzar district. This will provide additional capacity for upcoming projects in the area and help prevent overloading of the existing networks.
Additionally, a water reservoir with a capacity of 20,000 cubic meters is planned for the same district. As a result, an uninterrupted drinking water supply will be ensured for the Shaykhontokhur, Chilanzar, and Uchtepa districts. The project is also expected to save nearly 8,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per day.
Tashkent regularly hosts business events, forums, and exhibitions. One such venue is the Central Asian Expo Uzbekistan (CAEx) complex. Given the range of meetings held during international events, the construction of new negotiation halls is being planned at the site.
Another important factor contributing to the cityʼs appeal is convenient public transport. Both the bus and metro networks in the capital are being steadily expanded.
As previously announced, the metro line is planned to be extended to the Tashkent Tractor Plant area. This project will be implemented in two stages. The first stage will involve the construction of an above-ground metro line from the Pushkin station along the Chilanzar line to the Tashkent Ring Road. In the second stage, an underground segment will be built from there to the central station at the Tashkent Tractor Plant.
To ensure smooth traffic flow, the metro line will pass beneath the Tashkent Ring Road. The underground section will be constructed without interrupting surface traffic. The new metro line is expected to serve approximately 85,000 passengers per day.
Another promising project in this sector is the proposed metro line to New Tashkent. Starting from the current Dustlik metro station, it will extend to the new city center. The line will span 21 kilometers and include 9 stations, with a capacity to serve up to 230,000 passengers daily.
The presentation also covered the technical and economic aspects of these projects. The President gave instructions to improve construction quality and standards and to ensure the creation of comfortable living conditions for the population.
