President Mirziyoyev receives heads of international sports organizations

On April 29, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Husain Al-Musallam, President of the World Aquatics Federation and Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia, and Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, First Vice President of the Association of National Olympic Committees.
The meeting focused on expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in sports, supporting the Olympic movement, and creating favorable conditions for developing professional and mass sports in Uzbekistan.
At the outset, Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The parties expressed satisfaction that practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and these international sports organizations has reached a high level.
Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening the partnership with the World Aquatics Federation, implementing specialist training programs, and developing modern, inclusive infrastructure for aquatic sports in Uzbekistan.
Discussions also covered Uzbekistanʼs potential to host major international competitions, including the Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia and other large-scale events organized by the Association of National Olympic Committees.
