On 4 September, France’s newly appointed Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Walid Fouque, presented copies of his credentials to Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov. The minister shared the development on his Telegram channel.

Saidov noted that relations between Uzbekistan and France, built on a strong historical foundation and rich traditions, have advanced rapidly in recent years and risen to the level of a strategic partnership.

“Today, cooperation spans all areas — from the economy to culture. At the same time, the potential is even greater, and the joint efforts of our diplomats are crucial to fully realizing it,” Saidov wrote.

The Foreign Minister also wished Walid Fouque success and productive work during his mission in Uzbekistan.

Fouque officially assumed office on 27 August 2025, succeeding Aurélia Bouchez, who served as ambassador from October 2021 to August 2025.

An experienced diplomat, Walid Fouque worked at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Directorate for Strategic Affairs, Security, and Disarmament from 2010 to 2014. He then served at the French Embassy in Beijing (2014–2017) and later at France’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York (2017–2019).

He returned to the ministry in 2019 as Director for Asia, Oceania, and the Far East, before being appointed in 2020 as Adviser to the President of France on Asia, Oceania, and the Americas, a position he held until 2025.
