Uzbek melons reach new markets worldwide
Ahmadali Shernazarov from “Xalq So‘zi”. The melons grown in our country — particularly those from the Mirzachul region — have earned international fame.
To date, Mirzachul melons have been exported to Austria, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Kazakhstan, Russia, and several other countries. The number of export destinations is expected to increase further this season. Last year alone, the export map featured 17 countries, including the United Kingdom, China, Mongolia, the United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan, and Japan.
It is important to note that cultivating agricultural products in line with export requirements remains a key priority.
“We regularly provide farmers and agricultural producers with recommendations and guidance on how to protect melon crops from pests and diseases. These efforts are producing the expected results,” said Umid Abdurayimov, Head of Department at the Sirdarya Regional Plant Quarantine and Protection Administration.
This year, melons are being cultivated on 11,725 hectares across the Sirdarya region.
