Tashkent-Andijan toll road to be built
Deputy Minister of Transport Jasurbek Choriev outlined key aspects of the Tashkent-Andijan toll road project developed in collaboration with the World Bank.
According to the Deputy Minister, 64% of the road will be newly constructed, while 36% will undergo reconstruction. This I-a category road will stretch 314 kilometers (km) and feature 6 lanes. The construction is expected to take 6 years and 3 months.
The process will consist of three stages: the first stage will involve the construction of the Tashkent-Angren section (78 km), the second stage will cover the Angren-Pop section (93 km), and the third stage will include the Pop-Andijan section (143 km). The road will have a cement-concrete surface.
A total of 102 structures will be constructed along the toll road, with overpasses spanning a total of 1,122 meters. The project is expected to include 10 tunnels, with a combined length of 33 kilometers. The longest tunnel will be 6,787 meters long.
The construction of the road will reduce the current travel time from Tashkent to Andijan by 2 hours and 14 minutes. The estimated cost of this project is 4.28 billion USD (in 2023 nominal prices). A public-private partnership agreement for the construction of this road will be in effect for 49 years.
