Shavkat Mirziyoyev meets with U.S. Congress Delegation
On March 17, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with a delegation led by Carol Miller, a member of the United States Congress and a member of the Congressional Caucus on Uzbekistan.
The discussions focused on strengthening the strategic partnership and expanding multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States.
At the beginning of the discussion, Congresswoman Miller conveyed greetings and best wishes from the U.S. President, Congressional leadership, and members of the Uzbekistan Caucus.
Both sides noted the significant progress in bilateral relations, highlighting the increase in trade and investment volumes in recent years, and the growing business cooperation between the two nations. Political dialogue and interagency exchanges continue to strengthen.
Webster University and the American University of Technology have established operations in Tashkent.
Additionally, productive cooperation is underway in transportation, customs, migration, culture, and other areas.
Carol Miller praised Uzbekistanʼs ongoing reform efforts, particularly in economic modernization, strengthening democratic institutions—especially the parliament—and promoting gender equality.
The meeting highlighted the importance of expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation to support and promote economic and investment projects in mining, industry, energy, and agriculture sectors.
The importance of fostering partnerships between Uzbek regions and U.S. states was also emphasized.
The parties also exchanged views on current regional issues and the situation in Afghanistan.
