Uzbekistanʼs permanent resident count announced
Uzbekistanʼs permanent population has reached 37.5 million as of January 1, 2025, marking a 2% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the State Statistics Committee.
According to the report, 926.4 thousand births were recorded across the republic from January to December 2024. The urban population stands at 19.1 million, while the rural population is 18.4 million. Of the total population, 18.9 million are men, and 18.6 million are women.
The distribution of the permanent population by region is as follows:
Republic of Karakalpakstan – 2,029.7 thousand people
Andijan region – 3,461.0 thousand people
Bukhara region – 2,077.0 thousand people
Jizzakh region – 1,537.6 thousand people
Kashkadarya region – 3,639.3 thousand people
Navoi region – 1,094.7 thousand people
Namangan region – 3,131.7 thousand people
Samarkand region – 4,297.5 thousand people
Surkhandarya region – 2,945.5 thousand people
Syrdarya region – 930.8 thousand people
Tashkent region – 3,108.5 thousand people
Fergana region – 4,144.7 thousand people
Khorezm region – 2,032.4 thousand people
Tashkent city – 3,112.8 thousand people
As of January 1, 2025, the highest share of the total population was recorded in the regions of Samarkand, Fergana, Kashkadarya, and Andijan.
