At least three artificial lakes be built across four directions of Tashkent
As part of the implementation of Presidential Decree No. PF-229, large-scale measures will be undertaken in Tashkent to enhance the city’s microclimate resilience. Paragraph 6 of the decree calls for the creation of new artificial water bodies in the eastern, western, northern, and southern parts of the capital to promote efficient water use and improve air quality.
According to the document, the Ministry of Water Resources and Uzsuvta’minot JSC, in cooperation with the Tashkent city administration, must build at least three artificial lakes or reservoirs in each direction within three months.
Public spaces, green areas, and modern infrastructure will be developed around these lakes in accordance with environmental standards.
The decree also mandates doubling the number of fountains in Tashkent. New fountains will be built not only in central districts but across various parts of the city, helping improve the water–air balance throughout the capital.
Relevant agencies have been instructed to set technical requirements for fountain construction, ensure water-saving technologies are used, and guarantee safe year-round operation.
These initiatives aim not only to moderate the city’s climate and reduce airborne particulate matter but also to create additional recreational spaces for residents.
