For the first time in history, Uzbekistan will host one of the worldʼs most prestigious chess competitions, the FIDE Grand Swiss, in the ancient city of Samarkand.

The President announced that the International Olympiad in Informatics will be held in our country for the first time in 2026. This was reported on the official telegram channel of the president’s spokesman Sherzod Asadov. 

As previously reported, the issue of holding the FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships in Uzbekistan was under consideration.
